2523 – Firefighting – Wildland    
Grade Level:  11-12, 16 yrs and above
Course Fee: $20 by first week of class    
 
This offers students the opportunity to receive Basic Wildland Firefighter Training in the areas of Incident Command System,  Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, Firefighter Training, and Human Factors on the fireline from the National Wildfire Coordinating Group.  Students will learn about careers and job opportunities in the field of Wildland Firefighting.    Students will complete hands on and academic studies to learn aspects of safe and effective Wildland firefighting suppression activities including personal protective equipment, and other equipment utilized for firefighting.  Students will receive National Wildfire Coordinating Group materials to keep including student workbooks and an Incident Response Pocket Guide which is used at all Wildland fire incidents.  After successful completion of the course, students will receive the National Wildlfire Coordinating Group industry certification that is recognized nationally in Basic Wildland Firefighter Training.  Students will also be encouraged to receive more hands on training by attending Fire Department Trainings throughout Valencia County.

The Valencia County Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for the National Wildlfire Coordinating Group certificates issued to students at their successful completion of the course.
